What is a Domain Registrar ?

Filed under: Domain — Domain Names Admin @ 12:53 pm

To build A Site you need a domain name that people can visit via web.

Domain registrar is a company accredited by ICANN for Assigned Domain Names. ICANN has authority for Top Level Domains like .com, .net and .org. ICANN does not have authority over Country Code Top-Level Domains. Most registrars provide DNS and hosting service, but this is not required, and considered a separate service.

end user cannot register domain names without ICANN.

When a registrar registers a .com domain name for the end-user, it must pay a maximum annual fee of US$6.00 to “VeriSign” and a US$0.22 fee to “ICANN”. “VeriSign” is the registry manager for .com Top Level Domains.
